Ye's Two St. Petersburg Stadium Concerts Canceled After Months of Uncertainty Ye's planned October 10 and 11 concerts at Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg, Russia, have been canceled, according to promoter Say Agency and Russian media reports. Ye's two planned stadium concerts at Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg, Russia have been canceled after months of uncertainty. The shows were scheduled for October 10 and 11, 2026. The Moscow-based promoter Say Agency announced the cancellation on Telegram. The promoter expressed sincere regret about the cancellation in its message. Say Agency added that the Ye concerts in St. Petersburg will not be able to take place on the scheduled dates. The shows had been reportedly sold out but were in question from the moment they were announced. From the start, the gigs were in limbo after the venue stated that it had not signed a rental agreement. A post said the venue did not sign any contracts for the stadium rent for the event. That post adamantly stated there was no such agreement for the shows and that they would not take place at the venue. That came despite the venue previously advertising the events. The conflicting messages added to the confusion surrounding the concerts. Earlier, a post promoting the concerts had stated that Kanye West was coming to Gazprom Arena and described the shows as world-shaking.The post called West the most influential music artist of the time and said the two exclusive concerts would be part of his record-breaking world tour. It also noted that this would be his first performance in Russia. The post read: Kanye West is at Gazprom Arena! Whaaat??? The legendary artist will be coming to Russia for the first time, performing a world-shaking show at the blue-white-and-blue stadium. This is no joke! Kanye West, the most influential music artist of our time, will perform two exclusive concerts at Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg on October 10th and 11th as part of his record-breaking world tour.According to Russian media reports, the decision to cancel the Ye shows was made by Russian authorities. The organizers of the gigs are reportedly being investigated for fraud, according to the Kommersant newspaper. Local media also reported that government officials had not approved the shows. Some politicians had expressed outrage at Ye's past embrace of Nazi symbols and support for Adolf Hitler, which is a criminal offense in the country. The controversy stems from years of antisemitic remarks and an embrace of Nazi symbolism and rhetoric which began in 2022.If the shows had gone on as planned, Ye would have been the first Western rap star to perform in Russia amid a global cultural boycott enacted in response to the launch in 2022 of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine. The boycott has led many international artists to avoid performing in Russia.Ye has not said much this year as he has mounted his ambitious stadium show across the world. He has played gigs in Turkey, the Netherlands, Georgia, Albania, Portugal, Spain, and Kazakhstan this year, as well as U.S. shows in Los Angeles, Tampa Bay, San Antonio, New Orleans, and Chicago.Despite playing to huge crowds, West is still facing lingering unease from years of antisemitic remarks and an embrace of Nazi symbolism and rhetoric which began in 2022. That controversy led to the meltdown of the rapper's once-formidable music, fashion, and design portfolio. As part of the lingering unease with booking Ye, this year he has had concerts in France, Poland, and the Czech Republic canceled. He also lost a headlining set at London's Wireless Festival. The Poland show was canceled after the culture minister condemned the rapper, saying: We cannot pretend this is just entertainment.
