The 36-year-old married father of four, David Elliott Pritt, was charged with enticement of a minor Wednesday after the family of the 15-year-old girl reported she had been sexually abused by the lawmaker at Fayette County's Oak Hill High School, where he worked as an English teacher. Pritt allegedly started communicating with the girl in 2024 while she was in eighth grade, using Roblox and Snapchat.He later told the girl by the end of the school year that he loved her, the complaint states. He allegedly sent the girl sexually explicit videos and photos in the summer of 2025, according to the complaint, and then asked the victim to send him explicit videos.Pritt, who then worked at Oak Hill High School in Fayette County, allegedly initiated a physical relationship with the girl late last year, ultimately requesting her to meet him in his classroom, where they engaged in sexual acts, according to the complaint. The most recent encounter occurred in December or January, but Pritt continued to communicate with the girl on Snapchat until this month, the complaint alleges.Pritt allegedly messaged the girl in June, asking her not to tell anyone about their prior sexual activity. West Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Roger Hanshaw removed Pritt from all roles connected to his service as a member of the legislature on Wednesday while calling for the lawmaker to resign. West Virginia Delegate Josh Holstein, a Republican in Boone and chairman of the state's Republican Party, has also called on Pritt to step down.Fayette County Schools acknowledged Pritt's arrest in a statement on Wednesday, adding that administrators are cooperating with investigators. West Virginia Superintendent of Schools Michele Blatt announced Thursday that she ordered officials to suspend Pritt's teaching certificate. Pritt, who remains in custody Friday at the Carter County Detention Center, is scheduled to appear in federal court on Monday
