Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Raises $20M for Women's Charities The inaugural Daisy Chain Fields music festival, headlined by Olivia Rodrigo, raised $10 million in proceeds which was then matched by Melinda French Gates to support women's health and reproductive rights. Tens of thousands of music lovers descended on Great Park in Irvine, Calif. , over the weekend to scream along to their favorite artists - part of a history-making event to raise funds for women's health, reproductive rights and ending gender-based violence. Daisy Chain Fields is the inaugural charity festival spearheaded by pop darling Olivia Rodrigo, following in the footsteps of the iconic Lilith Fair. The event brought together stars new and old, with queer pop star Chappell Roan and rapper Doechii featured alongside legacy punk and rock acts like Bikini Kill and Garbage.Prior to the start on Saturday, Rodrigo announced that they had raised $10 million US for the festival's 10 non-profit partners, including Planned Parenthood, the National Institute for Reproductive Health and Black Mamas Matter Alliance - a figure which was then matched by Melinda French Gates to bring the total to $20 million US. Rodrigo shared her vision for the festival back in June, stating that artists would perform for free, with all net proceeds going 'to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls.' The festival was a star-studded affair, featuring collaborations like Rodrigo's rendition of Landslide with Stevie Nicks and a surprise appearance by Alanis Morissette, who performed Ironic with an updated lyric celebrating same-sex marriage. Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan also joined Rodrigo onstage for several songs, praising her for carrying on the legacy of women-led festivals. The concert comes at a time when reproductive rights are under attack in the U.S., with the overturning of Roe v Wade in 2022 and ongoing attempts to defund essential family planning services. Rodrigo expressed her gratitude for the artists and activists who joined her for Daisy Chain Fields, stating that their collective efforts give her hope for the future. A lineup of 14 artists, including Mitski, Santigold, The Breeders and Eli, dazzled the packed crowd. The festival also featured artistic installations and interactive experiences, such as a 'Daisy Chain Reaction' philanthropy village where attendees learned about the work of the beneficiary organizations. Chase Martinez, a digital creator from Toronto, called the event the 'best festival ever,' highlighting the positive and wholesome atmosphere where everyone was there for a good cause.
