B.C. Teacher Suspended for Posting Nude and Sexual Photos on Reddit A Richmond high school teacher received a two-week suspension after students discovered nude and sexual photos he posted on a public Reddit account identified with his school. A Richmond high school teacher has been suspended for two weeks after his students discovered nude and sexual photographs he had posted on a personal Reddit account, according to the B.C. Commissioner for Teacher Regulation. Jimmy Ho entered a consent resolution with the commissioner last month. In that agreement, he admitted to conduct that occurred in September 2023 at the school where he taught Grade 11 students. According to the agreement, two Grade 11 students at Ho's school found his Reddit account through an internet search.Students Discover Teacher Reddit ProfileOne of the first results was a clothed picture of the teacher at the school that included a link to his Reddit profile. The students then viewed Ho's Reddit profile page. It displayed posts and comments he had made over time on various sub-communities of the platform, including nude photographs of Ho and photographs of him engaged in sexual acts. The commissioner wrote that the profile also contained posts of a sexual nature. In addition, it held clothed photos of Ho in connection with school activities, including one taken at the school. The two students who found the account reported feeling shocked. They told other teachers at the school because they felt the posts were inappropriate, and news of Ho's account quickly spread through the school community. The commissioner stated that by having sexual images of himself available on a public website, where he was identified as being a teacher, Ho failed to maintain the integrity, credibility and reputation of the teaching profession. Ho has been on leave from the Richmond School District since the posts were found. The regulator ordered that Ho's certificate of qualification be suspended for two weeks, running from Oct. 25 to Nov. 7.Consent Resolution Details Regulator OversightThe consent resolution is a formal agreement in which the teacher accepts the facts and the disciplinary outcome. The commissioner oversees teacher certification and professional conduct in British Columbia. The case highlights concerns about teachers' online activity and the visibility of personal content. The students were able to link Ho's classroom identity to his public Reddit profile through a simple internet search. The agreement did not say whether Ho remains employed by the district or whether he plans to return after the suspension. The suspension applies specifically to his certificate of qualification. The commissioner's written decision noted that the profile included both sexual content and school-related photos. That combination made the account identifiable to students and connected it directly to his role as a teacher.Suspension Period And Disciplinary OutcomeThe two-week suspension is the disciplinary measure ordered under the consent resolution. The order took effect on Oct. 25 and runs through Nov. 7.
