A Naples, Italy restaurant experienced an unfortunate incident when a waiter’s attempt to showcase his football skills resulted in a customer being injured.
Football Skills Turn Sour
CCTV footage captured the event, showing the waiter performing various football tricks, including keepy-uppies and a ‘round-the-world’ maneuver. A colleague applauded the display as the waiter entertained during lunchtime service.
However, the performance took a turn when the waiter attempted a backheel. The ball unexpectedly struck a wall and ricocheted into a wine glass held by a customer, shattering it.
Customer Injured by Glass
Glass fragments flew across the table, with some making contact with the customer’s face. The waiter immediately rushed to assist the injured customer, while his colleague reacted with awkward laughter.
Similar Incident in Scotland
This incident isn’t isolated. In 2020, at Haven Seton Sands Holiday Village in Port Seton, Scotland, a waiter named Kyle Broadhurst, 22, was involved in a workplace mishap.
Broadhurst attempted to burst a water-filled bag as a prank on his last day of work. He jumped onto the bag, causing it to burst and sending water into the car park.
Collision with Concrete Bollard
Losing his footing, Broadhurst then crashed headfirst into a concrete bollard. Despite the impact, he initially appeared uninjured, laughing and asking for the filming to stop.
The incident was captured by colleague Ffion Wynne and shared on Facebook. Wynne explained the bag was filled with water for cleaning equipment.
Workplace Safety Concerns
Both incidents highlight the potential for accidents in the workplace, even during seemingly harmless activities. The Italian waiter’s mishap caused injury and property damage, while the Scottish waiter’s prank resulted in a collision.
These events emphasize the importance of situational awareness, responsible behavior, and prioritizing safety in professional environments. The footage has sparked discussions about workplace safety and appropriate responses to unexpected events.
