Authorities in Mendenhall, Mississippi, have charged 17-year-old Cordarius Hobbs with the capital murder of Bill and Carol Blair. The June 3 killings of the elderly couple have sparked significant debate regarding forensic evidence and the potential involvement of another person.

The violence erupted on June 3 when contractors arrived at the home of Bill Blair, 74, and Carol Blair, 71, to install a generator. According to the report, the workers discovered a vehicle containing firearms in the driveway, which preceded a nearly two-hour police standoff. During the confrontation, a sheriff's deputy was wounded, though the officer is expected to recover at home.
The situation escalated when Cordarius Hobbs fled the residence and was subsequently shot by a state trooper. While Hobbs sustained non-life-threatening injuries during his escape, the incident left the small community of 2,200 residents in a state of shock.
A history of odd jobs for the Blairs
