Mechanism, a company specializing in gaming accessories, has announced the release of the Basegrip for Steam Controller. This new product is designed to increase the functionality and versatility of Valve’s unique controller.
Basegrip: Mobile Gaming and Beyond
The Basegrip allows users to securely attach their Steam Controller to a smartphone. This opens up possibilities for mobile gaming and other applications. It’s contoured to fit the controller’s shape, ensuring a snug and comfortable fit.
Seamless Charging and Compatibility
A key feature of the Basegrip is maintaining access to the controller’s magnetic charging port. This allows for uninterrupted charging while mounted. The Basegrip is also compatible with Mechanism’s existing mount ecosystem, including mounts that attach smartphones directly to the controller.
Software Limitations and Streaming
Valve has stated the Steam Controller is primarily designed for use with Steam and the Steam Link application. Full compatibility with all iOS and Android games isn’t currently guaranteed. The most practical use is currently streaming PC games via the Steam Link app.
Steam Controller Dock: Display and Charge
Alongside the Basegrip, Mechanism is releasing the Steam Controller Dock. This dedicated stand is designed to showcase and charge the controller when not in use. The dock incorporates the magnetic charging puck, keeping the controller powered and ready.
Availability and Pricing
The Basegrip for Steam Controller will be available for purchase starting May 4th, priced at $9. Discounted bundles including the Basegrip and other accessories will also be offered. The Steam Controller Dock is slated to ship in June, with a waitlist currently open for orders.
Mechanism’s new releases demonstrate their commitment to enhancing the Steam Controller experience, providing innovative ways for users to enjoy this unique gaming peripheral.
