Love Island Star's Baby Narrowly Avoids Injury

Terrifying Incident in Kent Home

Shaughna Phillips, known for her appearance on Love Island, experienced a frightening moment when a curtain rail fell at her mother’s home in Kent, narrowly missing her six-month-old daughter, Sofia. The incident occurred while Phillips was relaxing with her children, Lucia, three, and Sofia.

Close Call Captured on Camera

The near-tragedy was caught on camera, showing debris flying across the room as the curtain rail crashed onto the sofa. Phillips was holding Sofia at the time and quickly moved her to safety, preventing a potential injury. She reportedly shouted in shock following the incident.

Allegations of Poor Workmanship

Phillips shared the harrowing footage on social media, explaining that the incident stemmed from substandard work completed during a recent window installation. She stated a “huge crack” appeared as a result of the work and, despite repeated complaints, was simply covered with plaster.

Lack of Accountability

According to Phillips, no proper fix was implemented, and her mother’s concerns were ignored for months. She expressed frustration with the lack of accountability from the planners, surveyors, and managers involved in the project. Phillips publicly criticized L&Q Homes and the Wates Group on her Instagram story.

Company Response

David Lewis, Executive Group Director, Property and Investment at L&Q, issued a statement to the Daily Mail apologizing for the issues experienced by Phillips. He confirmed that their team had secured the curtain pole and ensured the area was safe.

Repairs Scheduled

L&Q plans to return early the following week to complete full repairs. The incident has raised concerns about the quality of home improvement work and the responsiveness of companies to safety issues.
