Barry Keoghan has spoken about his significant weight loss while filming The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event and addressed recent rumors concerning his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter. The actor, portraying Ringo Starr in the biopic, also reflected on the difficulties of navigating fame and maintaining a private life.

Weight Loss During Beatles Biopic Filming

The 33-year-old Irish actor revealed he lost over a stone (approximately 14 pounds) due to the extensive year-long filming schedule for the upcoming four-part Beatles biopic. Keoghan stars as legendary drummer Ringo Starr, alongside Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

The Scope of the Project

The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event will chronicle the band’s journey from their beginnings in Liverpool to their global success and eventual dissolution in 1970. Each film will focus on the perspective of a different band member.

During an appearance on Benny Blanco’s Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Keoghan explained his unintentional weight loss, attributing it to the demands of filming and his ADHD medication, which can suppress appetite. He stated, “I’ve lost so much weight on this movie. I was 65 or 66 kilos and I’m like 58 kilos now. But it’s because of my ADHD meds as well. No one told me to lose weight, and I don’t need to lose it for Ringo either. It’s more about getting into character and the stamina.”

He emphasized the unusual length of the production, noting, “Movies usually last six or seven weeks, and I always lose weight by the end, but by that time I’m gone. But this one’s a year.”

Addressing Relationship Rumors

Keoghan also addressed persistent rumors about his personal life, specifically allegations of infidelity during his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter. The couple dated for a year before separating in December 2024, and faced significant media attention following a blind item on DeuxMoi alleging Keoghan had been unfaithful with TikTok influencer Breckie Hill.

Keoghan denied the allegations, stating, “I came off Instagram, social profiles. I stopped going to events, socializing. It’s because there was a narrative out there that’s not true. I never confirmed or said anything about it, so I just disappeared.” He clarified that the rumors were false and that he had never met Breckie Hill, referencing a video she posted denying the alleged encounter.

Sabrina Carpenter’s single *Manchild* is widely speculated to be about their breakup. Keoghan and Carpenter began dating in late 2023 after meeting at a Saltburn screening and during Paris Fashion Week. Prior to Carpenter, Keoghan was in long-term relationships with Shona Guerin (2017–2020) and Alyson Kierans (2021–2023), with whom he shares a son, Brando, born in 2022. Carpenter previously dated Joshua Bassett (2020–2021) and was linked to Shawn Mendes in early 2024.
